Meet Our Management Team

Yinnan is an active volunteer for many Newfoundland community service groups . He is the President of the group. Linda  is Vice Present and she has 40 years of experience. Presently Ellie is the general manager. She recently graduated from the Master of Oil and Gas Engineering program from Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN). She also holds a Bachelor of Safety Engineering from the China University of Petroleum. Jerry  is Chief Communication Officer. He is an experienced entrepreneur in the areas of general trade, restaurant industry and real estate. He have more than ten years of experience and he has the capacity and willingness to develop, organize and manage various ventures. He has been a successful owner and operator of a General Trading Company and a Chinese Restaurant. Shuo is client care manager. He is a junior engineer. Additionally, he starts his master’s degree in Computer Science within the next four months. Property manager is Jingyao Sun. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in oil and gas engineering at Memorial University of Newfoundland. He is involved with Lanzhou University student groups providing expertise in planning, organizing, and organization of large events. Chief Operating Officer is Vincent. He has been working in the insurance industry for 10 years . His current position as Ontario portfolio manager designs portfolio strategies to deliver the operational plan, supervising areas within the organization to ensure the portfolio delivers the desired outcome. IT manager is Yang Zhao. He is currently in his final semester of Computer Science Degree at Memorial University of Newfoundland. He has more than 3 years’ experience in IT Service -Networking and Communication Group.  Yang also operates his own Website Design Company called Heardgi Website Design. Senior corporate strategy advisor is Dr. Cosmas. Senior career development adviser is Dr. Daniel Wong. He is a professional Engineer. Chief economist & senior advisor is Tony Fang. Bernie Halloran is chief business consultant. Andrew McKim is senior business consultant. Senior Tourism Consultant and Director of Destination Canada is Stan Cook Jr. He was the co-owner and president of an award winning nature based tourism company located in Cape Broyle. Stan’s father started offering adventure tours in 1970 with his whole clan growing up in this family business. Over those years they have been recognized with more than a dozen provincial and national tourism awards. Life and fun advisor is Wei Qiu and she received her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Memorial University of Newfoundland.  Wei has seven years work experience in management and customer service.

YinNan Zhang

President

Yinnan is an active volunteer for many Newfoundland community service groups including Chinese Association of Newfoundland (CANL), and the Community Financial Literacy Event.

As a real estate agent with Re/max Realty Specialist Ltd. he has received a Re/max Achiever Award.  Yinnan holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree – MUN and has worked for over ten years with various retail companies, thereby developing his sales and customer service experience.

Ellie Gao

General Manager

Presently Ellie is an Engineer in Training, she recently graduated from the Master of Oil and Gas Engineering program from Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN). She also holds a Bachelor of Safety Engineering from the China University of Petroleum.

With over three years of experience in project management she established and managed research, student union, and business projects. This ultimately led her to a major research project named: The Application of Management of Change (MOC) in the oil-gas industry alarm system, whereby she was responsible for the development and management of projects, their cost, time and scope.

As Vice President of the Chinese Youth Association of MUN, she has planned and implemented events for more than 1,000 participants.  Ellie achieved her certification of Microsoft Office Master from the Microsoft Corporation.

Jerry Li

Chief Communication Officer

Jerry is an experienced entrepreneur in the areas of general trade, restaurant industry and real estate. With over ten years of experience he has the capacity and willingness to develop, organize and manage various business ventures. He has been a successful owner and operator of a General Trading Company and a Chinese Restaurant.

Jerry has achieved a Bachelor of Business Administration – MUN. As a Certified Royal LePage Commercial Specialist, Jerry meets commercial clients needs with his knowledge, credibility and experience.

Sean Wang

Client Care Manager

Shuo is a junior engineer currently studying at Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN) to achieve a master’s degree in Oil and Gas Engineering. Additionally, he starts his master’s degree in Computer Science within the next four months.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Resource Exploration Engineering working as a geological engineer.  As well, he has worked in international trade for Shandong Hiking International Commerce Group Co. Ltd., which is the largest international trading company in northern China.

Property Manager

Jingyao Sun is currently pursuing a master’s degree in oil and gas engineering at Memorial University of Newfoundland. He is involved with Lanzhou University student groups providing expertise in planning, organizing, and organization of large events.

Dr. Cosmas Ho

Senior Corporate Strategy Advisor

Dr. Cosmas Ho M.D., C.C.F.P. qualified as a Medical Doctor in 1961. Dr. Ho continued his postgraduate training at the General Hospital in St. John’s, NL, and at Queens University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

Dr. Ho established a private medical practice of Family Medicine in St. John’s, NL, in 1965.

In 1973, Dr. Ho introduced Acupuncture in Newfoundland, which he continues to practice to date.

Dr, Ho is an applied scientist, a researcher, and scientific paper writer. He has authored and co-authored many scientific papers on seal oil properties, its nutritional benefits related to Omega-3, as well as health disorders associated with Omega-3 deficiency.

Dr. Ho is recognized locally, nationally, and internationally for his extensive work in the field of science and business. Dr. Ho is an accomplished and successful entrepreneur. In 1979, Dr. Ho incorporated Terra Nova Fisheries Company Ltd. To encompass his many successful business adventures. Under Dr. Ho’s direction, his company successfully reintroduced the commercial production and export of dried squid from Newfoundland. In 1984, following three years of extensive research at his production facility in Newfoundland, Terra Nova Fisheries Company Ltd., established the first commercial production of Surimi and imitation shellfish in North America.

In 1986, the P.J. Gardiner Institute for Business Studies of Memorial University of Newfoundland established the “Newfoundland Entrepreneurship Award”. The award, presented annually, recognizes the achievements of Newfoundland’s most outstanding entrepreneur. Dr. Ho was named the first recipient of this prestigious award. Also, Dr. Ho’s company received recognition for its marketing endeavors by being awarded the “Canadian Export Award” in 1989, which is only given to 15 businesses in Canada. The company was also the recipient of the innovation award “Canada Awards for Business Excellence” in 1988.

In 1992, Dr. Cosmas Ho, recognizing the potential of Newfoundland’s growing harp seal population, initiated the revitalization of the seal industry with a focus on utilization of the entire seal, including seal oil, seal meat, and seal pelts. Dr. Ho began intensive research and development into this underutilized, but renewable resource, which has lead to more research and promotion of the dietary benefits of seal oil, which is rich in Omega-3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids.

Through Dr. Ho’s initiatives, in 1994, his company introduced the first commercial production of edible seal oil for human consumption in the world. Dr. Ho has been dubbed by the news media as the “Father of Seal Oil” and is widely recognized in Newfoundland, China, and the world as the “Pioneer” of the seal oil research for his discovery of it is valuable components, Omega-3 PUFAs.

Dr. Ho was awarded a Commemorative Medal of the 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada in 1992. The Governor General of Canada, in recognition of Dr. Ho’s significant contribution, both in business, and his scientific research, to his community, his province and to Canada, presented this award.

In 2003, Dr. Ho published his scientific research and studies on Omega-3 PUFAs, Omega-3: The Seal Connection. The book consists of several chapters of mainly educational and scientific writings and documents in the research of seal oil.

Dr. Daniel Wong

Senior Career Development Adviser

Dr. Daniel Wong is a professional Engineer recently retired from the provincial public college in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.

In his previous role at the provincial public college, Dr. Wong oversaw the administration of partnerships between Newfoundland and many Chinese universities and colleges delivering post-secondary programs and curriculum to students in China. Dr. Wong was granted a visiting professorship status and scholarly title. He also administered and developed a post-secondary campus construction in Doha, Qatar, a 200 Million Canadian Dollars project.

Dr. Wong holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Dalhousie University, a Master of Business Administration, and a Doctorate in Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador.

In addition, he holds numerous professional designations within the field of engineering internationally, has served on the board of various industry associations within Newfoundland and Labrador and Canada, and has been published in many industry publications including the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE).

Dr. Tony Fang

Chief Economist & Senior Advisor

Tony Fang is the Stephen Jarislowsky Chair in Cultural and Economic Transformation at Memorial University of Newfoundland and an adjunct Professor with the University of Toronto. Currently he holds the J. Robert Beyster Faculty Fellowship at Rutgers University and sits on a World Bank’s Expert Advisory Committee on Migration and Development.

Prior to joining Memorial, he was the Director of Master of International Business Program at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. He served as the President of the Chinese Economists Society (2012-13) and the Domain Leader at CERIS, Ontario Metropolis Centre (2009-12). He was a visiting professor at Harvard University and NBER, Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, City University of Hong Kong, University of Macau, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, and Southwest University of Finance and Economics. In 2010, he received the title of “Chutian Scholar” of Hubei Province. In 2017, he was elected as a Fellow of Royal Society of Arts (FRSA).

Professor Fang has a Ph.D. in Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management from the University of Toronto. His areas of research interest encompass issues of immigration, diversity, and cultural changes, cross-cultural management, inter-cultural communications, high performance workplace practices, pension, retirement policy and the ageing workforce, minimum wages and youth employment, union impact on wages, innovation and firm growth, pay equity and employment equity. He has published in such journals as Strategic Management Journal, Industrial and Labor Relations Review (Cornell), Industrial Relations (Berkeley), British Journal of Industrial Relations (LSE), Relations industrielles/Industrial Relations, The World Economy, China Economic Review, Asian Economic Papers, Canadian Journal of Economics, International Journal of Human Resource Management, Journal of Economic Psychology, Canadian Public Policy, Journal of World Business, Journal of Labor Research, IZA Journal of Labour Policy, IZA World of Labour, International Migration, Diversity, International Journal of Manpower, Journal of Management History, and Social Indictors Research. He has also received 15 research awards from SSHRC and 5 research grants HRSDC, totaling $4 million. In 2015, he was appointed as the Jarislowsky Chair at Memorial University, with $2 million endowment support from the Jarislowsky Foundation, Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, and private donations.
